Purnima, The
Full moon day during Ashadha (आषाढ़ मास ) month is known as Guru Purnima day.
As per Hindu mythology, Guru Purnima is also known as Vyasa Purnima and this
day is celebrated in worshipping Guru Ved Vyas son of Parashar Rishi and
Matsyagandha.
Traditionally
this day is reserved for Guru Puja or Guru Worship. On this day Shishya offer
Puja or pay respect to their Gurus. The festival is usually celebrated as an
occasion for initiation of new disciples by their Gurus.
तद्विद्धि प्रणिपातेन परिप्रश्नेन सेवया |
उपदेक्ष्यन्ति ते ज्ञानं ज्ञानिनस्तत्त्वदर्शिनः || ३४
